our
story

At Six Eighty Cellars, we believe the past creates our future. 2 million years ago, the Finger Lakes were formed by receding glaciers, leaving deep, pristine lakes and steeply sloped hillsides, ideal for grape growing. Fast forward to 2020, when the property was purchased by local vineyardists Dave and Melissa Pittard. Attracted by the property’s well-established vines overlooking Cayuga Lake, Dave and Melissa saw the opportunity to create an exciting new style of wines rarely seen in the Finger Lakes region.

six eighty
the name

Rising 680 feet from the bottom of the lake to the uppermost point of the vineyards, the panoramic view reflects our unfettered and adventurous vision for our winemaking process. This dramatic rise in elevation is integral to successful viticulture, providing prime growing conditions for our classic vinifera grapes.

sustainability

Our minimal intervention winemaking philosophy is a natural extension of our sustainable farming practices. Meticulous attention to our greatest assets, the soil and vines, ensures the long-term health of our vineyards and reduces our environmental footprint. Planted in 2009, these vineyards contain a wide variety of classic vinifera grapes. An emphasis on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, along with such lesser-known grapes as Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Meunier, sets us apart from neighboring vineyards and allows our creative instincts to unfold.
